SHELTERING

In coordination with IOM (International Organization for Migration) and the Humanitarian Logistics Task Force, we operated in 2021 in the humanitarian management of the Reception and Support Post – PRA. Located at the international bus station in Boa Vista (Roraima), the PRA serves as a temporary shelter to accommodate the homeless population, welcoming up to 1,200 refugees and migrants per day. Throughout the year, we managed and monitored all services offered to beneficiaries, such as overnight stays, meals, and showers, and coordinated other activities carried out by partner agencies. We also conducted data collection, supported the flow of referral for the migratory regularization of the population, mapped priority groups, identified and referred protection cases, as well as ensured community participation in the activities offered.

EMERGENCY ACTION

In the face of the pandemic scenario, Refúgio 343 launched an emergency fund that raised over R$ 710,000 through national and international partnerships to act in spontaneous occupations in Boa Vista and Pacaraima, the cities most impacted by the migratory flow. 2,764 people were assisted in 20 occupations through the distribution of 5,542 prevention kits – including food, cleaning, and hygiene supplies. Refúgio 343 also supported the Boa Vista field hospital in the fight against Covid-19 by donating over 100,000 hospital items.

HEALTH & PREVENTION

We support the Health Center of Reception (NSA) with a dental clinic and healthcare professionals to serve the migrant population. Currently, we have a dentist, a pediatrician, a nurse, and two nursing technicians. In partnership with Volunteer Vacations (VV), we conducted 2 medical expeditions within the shelters, as well as at NSA itself. In addition to various specialty consultations, we conducted workshops focused on women’s preventive health in partnership with UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund). Altogether, there have been more than 3,400 consultations conducted across various specialties.
