Crisis left Elvis and Eulices’s family in an extreme poverty situation in Venezuela. They were no longer able to put food on the table for their children and also had no money to guarantee the displacement of the whole family to another country.
In moments like that most of Venezuelan families split up: an adult travel first searching opportunities to bring the rest of the family after. But not them. They decided to stand together!
They hitchhiked through a truck’s rack, with two little kids, for hundred of miles in a very dangerous course. In Brazil, they slept by the streets of Pacaraima and Boa Vista for five months. Their voices tremble everytime time they remember of what they been through.
Now they are in “São Vicente 2” reception center, where Refúgio 343 maintains operation, waiting for an opportunity to restart their lives in Brasil.
